When DSV is quite different from WH structure.

Hi,

Do you provide a way to generate POCO entities based on SSAS DSV? Our DSV is pretty different from our warehouse structure, so we are trying to figure out whether we can use SDX.

Thank you,
Vlad.

Generation of entities from DSV or cubes is not supported yet.
But you could make it work by either:
  1. Creating entity classes from scratch and mapping them into your cube structure using EF conventions, attributes or Fluent API (e.g. renaming entity properties to match cube names)
  2. Generating your entity POCO classes from the source RDBMS and re-mapping them into your cube structure (also using EF conventions, attributes or Fluent API)
This all is doable, but it may or may not be much additional work depending on your case.

It is a best practice to avoid any re-mappings in DSV and use views instead, so in the long run (it may be not that long depending on your case) it should pay off to move those DSV re-mappings into views due to a streamlined maintenance and reuse.
